About us

As a boat owner and boat builder, Max Laver has been involved with boats for most of his life. Max studied boat building in the UK and has forged his career working on boats around the world including dinghies in Ireland, high-end cruisers in the States and super yachts in New Zealand.

As well as building dinghies Laver Marine undertakes repairs and restoration projects and Max also provides marine surveying services. The design of the boat’s interior layout come from ideas Max has taken from previous experience and feedback from clients.

The dinghies are built in the King Country where we have a workshop located on the main road in Piopio. People are welcome to visit us and view the boats we have in stock as well as the work in progress.

  It is important to us that the dinghies are built to a very high standard using quality materials and will be safe on the water. The interior layout of our dinghies is designed by Max. His ideas come from his previous experiences and feedback from clients.
